Do I really not need to take the NaMMAT?

NO NEED: QMA offers a specialized entry path into the maritime industry that does not require the National Merchant Marine Aptitude Test (NaMMAT) for enrollment.

What are the basic admission requirements?
You typically need your PSA Birth Certificate, Senior High School Report Card (Form 138) or Transcript of Records, and a Valid ID.

Do I have to live in Iloilo?

No. Because the lectures are online, you only need to be in Iloilo during your scheduled practical training days.

This saves you a lot on boarding house and travel expenses.

Is there an age limit?

Most maritime programs require you to be at least 18-35 years old to enroll.

How long is the Basic Seaman Course?

Our fast-track program is designed to be completed in just 3 semesters, allowing you to start your career much sooner than a traditional 4-year degree.

How does "Hybrid Learning" work?

The QMA FLEX (Hybrid Learning) Model

Online: You study the theoretical/lecture parts of your course from home using your phone or laptop.

Onsite: You visit our campus in Jaro, Iloilo City, for intensive hands-on practical training and assessments.

What will I learn in the Basic Seaman Course?

The course covers essential seafaring skills including ropework, mooring, firefighting, survival techniques, and basic navigation, basic marine engineering and ships maintenance

Can I work on international ships after this?

Yes. Our education and training is designed to meet national and international standards, preparing you for roles as ratings (Deck or Engine) on merchant vessels worldwide.
